#TIGERSWIN | BB | Two Comeback Wins Propel ETBU to Top of ASC Standings

MARSHALL, Texas – Making two comebacks to sweep Sul Ross State University, the East Texas Baptist University baseball team moved to 14-3 in American Southwest Conference play. ETBU won game one, 6-2, and game two, 15-2, to improve to 18-7 on the year.
 
Sayers Collins and Cole Godkin earned the wins and combined for 16 strikeouts on the day. ETBU also hit three home runs recording 18 hits in the two wins. Chris Robinson recorded seven RBI while Carson Wilson posted four RBI.

Game 1
ETBU 6, SRSU 2

Down 2-0 after the top of second inning, ETBU scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take the 6-2 win. Collins went the entire seven-inning game recording 11 strikeouts allowing just three hits. Jase Jones was 2-of-2 with one RBI recording a home run while Wilson led the team with three RBI. Ben Lea added two RBI on one hit.
 
Jones solo home run in the second inning cut the SRSU lead to one, 2-1. Wilson then grounded out in the fourth inning to tie the game at two as Jones scored. He then doubled in both Austin Barry and Mason Bobo in the sixth to take the lead, 4-2. Lea finished off the scoring with a two RBI single as Wilson and Jake Miller scored.
Game 2
ETBU 15, SRSU 2

ETBU scored in every inning for the 13-run win over SRSU. Godkin went six innings for his fourth win of the year recording five strikeouts. He allowed just three hits and one earned run. Daniel Rubio (1 strikeout), Casen Holden, and Mackenson Bobo all pitched one inning. Robinson was 3-of-3 with seven RBI recording a home run. Brett Wagner and Barry added two RBI while Zachary McAdams, Jones, Wilson, and Brock Calvillo had one RBI.
 
SRSU took the early 1-0 lead in the first inning only to see ETBU score three in the bottom of the inning to take the lead for good. Robinson's three-run homer started off the scoring barrage for the game. In the second inning he earned two more RBI with a single to left field giving him five RBI to that point for the 5-1 lead. Wilson recorded a sac fly making it 6-1 and then Calvillo followed with another sac fly for the 7-1 advantage. In the fourth inning, Jones singled in Wagner and then Barry recorded a sac fly moving the score to 9-1. SRSU had a home run in the fifth but ETBU came back with three runs for the 12-2 lead in the bottom of the inning. Wagner had a RBI groundout followed by a two-RBI single from Robinson for his seven RBI and a 10-run lead. Barry connected for a home run in the sixth inning making it 13-2 and then another Wagner groundout and a McAdams single gave ETBU their final two runs of the game, 15-2.
 
ETBU will finish the series on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. with James Morgan Memorial Day.
