#TIGERSWIN | BB | Four Home Runs, Strong Pitching Leads to ETBU Shut Out of UST

MARSHALL, Texas – Combining for four home runs and recording 11 strikeouts, East Texas Baptist University shut out the University of St. Thomas – Houston, 13-0, on a Tuesday night game. ETBU is now 26-10 overall.
 
ETBU collected just nine hits but six of them were for extra base hits with four being home runs. Jase Jones, Brett Wagner, Carson Wilson, and Austin Barry all had home runs while Zachary McAdams and Charles Gordon posted doubles. Wilson led the team with two hits for three RBI while Jones added two hits for two RBI. McAdams had two RBI as Braden Fowler, Wagner, Will Kelley, Braxton Hacker, and Barry all had one RBI.
 
On the mound, Rece Gustafason started the game going 4.2 innings with three strikeouts for his first win of the year. Jacob Sherman (1.1 IP, three strikeouts), Peyton Miller (1 IP, two strikeouts), Jagger Neely (1 IP), and Trent Clark (1 IP, three strikeouts) all pitched in relief.
 
After three scoreless innings, ETBU added four on the board in the fourth. Back-to-back-to-back home runs led to the four runs from Jones (2 run-homer), Barry, and Wagner. Kelley singled in a run in the fifth and then Wilson made it 6-0 with a home run in the seventh. Seven more runs were then scored in the eighth inning. McAdams doubled in two to make it 8-0. Wilson followed with a two-RBI single and then scored on an error making it 11-0. Two runs finished out the scoring on errors for the 13-0 win.
 
ETBU will host the University of Texas Dallas this weekend in ASC play.
