LONGVIEW, Texas – Finishing out the regular season with 30 wins, #8 East Texas Baptist University scored five runs in the seventh inning to sweep the American Southwest Conference series over LeTourneau University. ETBU is now 30-8 and finish at 25-6 in the ASC.
Ashley Croft won her 10
th game of the year going five innings with four strikeouts allowing one earned run in three hits.
Toni Tamborello worked the sixth inning with one strikeout and
Kathryn Reed came in the seventh inning recording two strikeouts.
Tauryn Cummings led the team with three RBI on two hits.
Courtney White also had two hits and one RBI.
Delanie Loya,
Lorena Ramirez, and Croft recorded a RBI each.
After two scoreless innings, ETBU put two on the board in the third inning. Cummings made it 2-0 with a home run to left field as
Tristen Maddox came in. LETU pulled within one in the bottom of the inning, 2-1. Croft smacked a home run in the sixth inning after three scoreless innings making it, 3-1. A single by White and a double by Cummings each added a run for the 5-1 lead in seventh inning. Loya then singled in
Leah Akridge making it 6-1 and the Ramirez grounded out as the seventh run of the game came in.
Kamyree Keilberg was the final run for ETBU as she scored on a throwing error to go up, 8-1. LETU did score one run in the bottom of the seventh but that was it as ETBU took the entire series, 8-2.
ETBU will now wait to see who they will play next weekend in the ASC Tournament.
