RICHARSON, Texas – Playing in their sixth straight American Southwest Conference Tournament, the East Texas Baptist University women's tennis team had their season come to an end, 5-2, to McMurry University. ETBU finishes the year at 9-10.
ETBU was the #2 seed from the ASC East Division taking on the #3 seed from the West Division in McMurry. The Warhawks jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles play. McM took the number one doubles, 8-6, as Gabbi Hamberbach and
Jayde Childress came up just two points shy of the win.
Faith Kirk and
Keelie Stamson then lost, 8-3, at number two, and
Corrine Hall and
Kylee Mixon dropped the number three match, 8-2.
ETBU rallied quickly in singles play with their first point from Hammerbach at number two with a 6-0, 6-0 win. Isabell Duarte the won, 6-4, 7-5, at the number five singles for the second point. McM, though, won the match with two wins at number four, 6-4, 6-3, and number six, 6-3, 6-1, to win the match.
ETBU finished with a 3-1 record in the ASC East Division and won nine matches this season under first-year head coach
