MARSHALL, Texas – On senior day, the East Texas Baptist University women's tennis team held off the University of the Ozarks, 6-3, in American Southwest Conference East Division play. ETBU is now 6-9 on the year and 2-1 in the ASC East.
 
ETBU opened up with a 2-1 lead in doubles play as 
Gabbi Hammerbach and 
Jayde Childress won 8-1 at the #1 match. 
Kylee Mixon and 
Corrine Hall then won 8-5 at #3. 
Isabelle Duarte and 
Andrea Alvarez fell in a tie breaking match, 8-7.
 
The singles matches were all close but ETBU won the first three matches to take the 5-1 lead. Childress won at #1, 6-2, 6-2, while Hammerbach took the #2 match, 6-1, 6-0, and Alvarez came away with a the #3 match win, 6-2, 6-0. 
Faith Kirk then won the #6 match, 6-2, 6-2, for the sixth point.
 
ETBU will travel to Austin College on Sunday for a match at 3:00 p.m.
