CONWAY, Arkansas - Breaking the program record for best start to a season, East Texas Baptist University swept both LaGrange College and Lyon College at the Hendrix College Invite moving to 9-0 on the year. The 9-0 start breaks the 6-0 start that took place in 2019. ETBU won over LaGrange, 25-7, 25-14, 25-14, and over Lyon, 25-18, 25-23, 25-15.
  

ETBU 3, LaGrange 0
 Graycee Mosley led the team with 12 kills while Avery Reid had seven. Lexi Moody recorded 11 assists followed by McKenzie Mansell with eight and Lillie Hill had 13 digs.
 
ETBU came into the first set with a huge run bringing the score to 13-4. Hill gave back-to-back service aces, followed by Hannah Perry with a kill to put the Tigers up, 21-6. The set ended 25-7 with an attack error by LC. 
 
The Tigers kept the momentum going into the second set with another urn making the score, 12-5. Bridget Barton recorded two consecutive kills from Moody for a 16-7 score. The Panthers were not going down without a fight, having a short run to cut the lead to seven, 20-13. The set ended with an attack error by LC as ETBU won by 11, 25-14.
 
Mansell kicked off the final set with two service aces. LC fought hard and kept the game close, until ETBU had a run that made it, 19-12. Kills by Mosley and Jenna Wade brought put the score at 24-14 before the match ended with an attack error by LC. 
 

ETBU 3, Lyon 0
Avery Reid led the team with 13 kills followed by Mosley with 11. Moody finished with 20 assists and Hill recorded 16 digs. 
 
ETBU came in with a run to set an up an early lead of 7-3. Lyon tied it up with a service ace at nine. Hannah Perry, Kristin Kruger, and Mosley recorded four kills together making it, 14-9. With two kills by Barton and an ace from Hill, ETBU put their lead at seven, 22-15. The set was ended with a kill by Reid, 25-18. 
 
Lyon kept the score close in set two going up by four on a 5-1 run, 16-12. ETBU fought hard to tie it up at 20-20 on a LC attack error. Mosley ended the set with a massive kill to up 2-0, 25-23. 
 
Lyon started the third set going up, 6-1, and moving the lead to 9-3. A kill by Barton sent the Tigers on a run to make it, 21-12. Mosley ended the match with a kill from Alexis Mack for the 25-15 victory. 
 
ETBU will play again Tuesday, September 13th, at 6:00 pm in Irving, TX against the University of Dallas.
