MARSHALL, Texas - In a fast paced, three-set sweep, East Texas Baptist University defeated Hardin-Simmons University, 25-19, 25-17, 25-15, in an American Southwest Conference volleyball match. ETBU is now 12-2 overall and 4-2 in the ASC.
Graycee Mosley led the team with another double-double recording 18 kills and 22 digs.
McKenzie Mansell had 19 assists followed by Lexi Moody with 10 assists.
Lillie Hill finished with 22 digs.
ETBU started the set with a run and early lead of 6-2. Kills by Madi Chandler and
Avery Reid brought made it 14-6. HSU fought hard amongst the Tiger run cutting the score to seven points, 20-13. A kill by
Kristin Kruger pushed the lead back to set point at 24-17, before Mansell ended it, 25-19.
Another massive run started the second set for ETBU jumping out to a 10-3 lead. Three back-to-back kills by Mosley gave ETBu a10-point lead, 20-10. The set ended with a kill by Reid, 25-17.
HSU kept the third set close, tying the score at six. HSU was within one before a kill by Reid set the score at 15-13. A kill by Kylie Smink gave ETBU a seven-point lead, 19-12. The match ended with a service ace by Moody, 25-15, as ETBU won their 12
th match of the yar.
ETBU will play again on Saturday, September 24th, at 1:00 pm hosting McMurry University in Ornelas Gym.
