HOUSTON, Texas - Finishing the weekend strong, the East Texas Baptist University volleyball team finished at 4-0 with two sweeps on the day over Willamette University and Neumann University. ETBU now heads into American Southwest Conference play undefeated.

In another quick sweep, ETBU defeated Neumann University, 25-22, 25-19, 25-13. Grace Mosley recorded a team high of 11 kills, followed by
Avery Reid with eight.
McKenzie Mansell finished with 17 assists and Lilli Hill recorded 18 digs.Â

Starting of strong,
Kristin Kruger and Mosley had a combined six kills, setting an early 6-3 lead. The Tigers were up the whole set, with NU only coming close at the end with a run of points bringing theme within one, 21-20. Kruger recorded two kills to make it, 23-21. The set ended with NU having a bad set as ETBU won 25-22. Kruger led the set with five kills, Mansell recorded nine assists and Hill with five digs.Â

ETBU started the second set with an early lead of 7-3. Madi Chandler and
Alexis Mack gave ETBU a five-point lead, 12-7, with two combined kills and one block. The set was ended on a block by Reid and Mack. Reid and Mosley led with three kills each and Hill had 10 digs.Â

The third set was the only in which ETBU trailed. The set was neck and neck until a kill by Reid brought the score to, 10-9. The match ended with a kill by
Hope Shipp. Mosley led the set with four kills and seven digs followed by Chandler and
Hannah Perry with two kills each. Mansell recorded five assists and Moody with three assists.Â

ETBU won all three sets 25-9, 25-21, 25-21, to finish at 4-0 in three days at St. Thomas.
Avery Reid led the match with 12 kills, followed by
Graycee Mosley with eight. Both
McKenzie Mansell and Lexi Moody finished with 14 assists. Mosley also led the team with 17 digs, followed by
Lillie Hill who recorded 14.Â

The match started strong with back-to-back service aces by Reid setting an early 7-1 lead. The set continued with back-to-back kills by
Alexis Mack bringing the score to 14-8.
Eliana Zepeda had three service aces in a row to bring making it, 22-9, followed by
Jenna Wade and Mosley recording one kill each. The set ended with WU on an attack error. Reid led the set with three kills as Moody recorded five assists,
Taylor Poore with five digs, and
Hannah Perry made three blocks,

ETBU fell behind in the second set, not catching up to WU until a block made by Reid and Mack tied the set at 11-11. The set stayed neck and neck until the end with two service aces by Mansell and a kill by Reid to take the set, 25-21.

ETBU started the third set strong with kills by Mosley setting and early lead at 5-1 lead. ETBU stayed in the lead with kills from Reid and Mosley pushing the lead to nine, 20-11. WU put up a good fight pulling to within five, 23-18, but the Tigers pushed through ending the game with a kill made by Perry for the 25-21 match win. Reid led the final set with six kills as Mansell recorded five assists, and Mosley with eight digs.Â

ETBU will start ASC play on Tuesday, September 6th, at 6:00 pm against Concordia Texas in Ornelas Gym.
