#TIGERSWIN | HKY | ETBU Gets Back to Winning Ways Sweeping SMU

SHREVEPORT, La. – Staying perfect in the Texas Collegiate Hockey Conference, East Texas Baptist University held off Southern Methodist University over the weekend moving to 16-8 on the year. ETBU swept SMU, 3-2, and 2-0 at George's Pond on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.
 
In the two games, Caleb Goudreau led the team with two goals while Matthew Duncan, Spencer Mills, and Carson Loos all had one goal. Ronnie Bregante collected two assists while Mills, Avery Cook, Dmitrii Sergeev, and Jeremy Niven all had one assist.
 

ETBU 3, SMU 2
Playing the late game on Saturday night at George's Pond at 10:30 p.m., Mills broke the 2-2 tie in the third period as ETBU held onto the 3-2 win. This was the first game back at George's Pond since October 22.
 
Goudreau had the only goal in the first period at 12:57 on assists from Bregante and Mills for the 1-0 lead. Duncan then gave ETBU a 2-0 lead at 4:44 in the second period as Cook and Sergeev assisted on the goal. SMU then cut the lead to one, 2-1, at 16:32 in the second period. On a power play in the third period, SMU tied the game two at 2:47. Less than two minutes later (4:11), Mills had the go-ahead goal on an assist from Bregante.
 
ETBU out shot SMU, 48-10, overall as Gavyn McCutcheon received the win with eight saves on 10 shots. SMU's goalie saw 48 shots on goal with 45 saves.

ETBU 2, SMU 0
For the fifth time this season, ETBU earned a shutout, 2-0, in the final game of the series over Southern Methodist. Tyler Fitzgerald was the goalie on record for the win stopping all 13 shots that came his way.
 
Loos made it 1-0 in the first period at 14:20 on an assist from Niven with the power play goal. After no scoring in the second period, Goudreau finished off the scoring with a goal in the third at 10:11 unassisted. That was his 25th goal of the year.
 
ETBU took 63 shots on goal to SMU's 13 as their goalie stopped 61 shots.
 
ETBU will be back at home in their final series of the regular season on Friday and Saturday against Baylor University.
