MARSHALL, Texas – Eight players from the 2023 East Texas Baptist University women's soccer team have been given American Southwest Conference awards for their play.
Sarah Ramos and
Olivia Gallegos were named to the first team as four players were on the second team and two on the third team. It is the second most selections under head
Kristin Cox in her seasons as head coach.
Ramos is from Midland, Texas, and finished with four goals, six assists, and 14 points this year making the first team as a forward. She took 33 shots with 21 on goal for a .636 shots on goal percentage. She was the ASC Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 12 for a hat trick vs. Millsaps College. In her career, she has played in 30 matches starting 28 with eight goals, four assists, and 20 points. This is second year in a row being All-ASC as she was on the second team last year.
Gallegos, a graduate student from Mesquite, Texas, is on the first team as a midfielder earning her fourth All-ASC award. She has twice been honorable mention (2019, spring 2021) and was on the third team in fall 201. She posted two goals and an assist for five points with 23 shots and 15 on goal. In five seasons, she has participated in 77 matches starting 68 with 10 goals, 13 assists, for 33 points.

Warren, a senior defender from Wylie, Texas, earned her third All-ASC award. She has been on the first team (spring 2021) and second team (fall 2021) along with being named to the ASC All-Tournament team in spring 2021. This year she helped the defense to four ties allowing just 1.31 goals per game. In 52 career matches played, she has started 51 and been one of the top defenders in the ASC the past four seasons.
Wyatt, a graduate transfer from Stephen F. Austin, is a forward given her first All-ASC award. She led the team in goals (9) and points (18) talking 30 shots with 18 on goal (.600). Against both Concordia Texas and McMurry, she netted two goals. Overall, she played in 14 matches starting 10.
Laredo is a freshman from Garland, Texas, and is a midfielder collecting her first All-ASC award. In 16 matches played, starting 13, she had one goal and one assist with 25 shots. Her first collegiate goal came vs. Belhaven on September 9.
Funk, a junior from Bryant, Ark., is now a two-time All-ASC selection as a goalkeeper. For the second year in a row she is on the second team. This year she played in 16 matches starting 15 going 5-5-4 with 45 saves. She had a 1.33 GAA helping with all four shutouts record two of the shutouts. For her career, she has 103 saves.
Mallory Duncan (D) and
Makayla Baxter (D) made the All-ASC third team.
Duncan is sophomore from Round Rock, Texas, and gains her second straight All-ASC award as a defender. Last year she was named honorable mention. This year, she helped with four shutouts and a 1.33 goals against average starting nine matches while playing in 15. She also scored a goal and had an assist for three points.
Baxter, a defender from Deer Park, Texas, is a junior earning her second straight All-ASC award. She was an honorable mention selection last year, too. Starting in playing in 16 matches, she was a part of four shutouts while collecting two assists on the year.
ETBU earned a spot in the 2023 ASC Tournament making the tournament for a third time in four seasons.
