MARSHALL, Texas – For the first time this season, the East Texas Baptist University men's tennis team as an American Southwest Conference Player of the Week in Sam Black. Black was chosen the ASC East Player of the Week for his play over four matches.
 
ETBU went 2-2 on the week starting off 3-0 on the season before falling to two scholarship programs in Texas Wesleyan and Dallas Baptist.

EAST DIVISION MEN'S PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Sam Black, Fr., East Texas Baptist
East Texas Baptist freshman Sam Black (White River, Mpumalanga (South Africa)) helped ETBU to two wins and a 3-0 start before falling to TWU (didn't play) and Dallas Baptist for a 3-2 team record. He went 3-2 on the week going 2-1 at singles and 1-1 at doubles. Had two of the five points in a 5-4 win over Schreiner winning #1 singles and #2 doubles. Won a tiebreaker in singles to win the first set taking the second set, 7-5.
