KINGSVILLE, Texas – In their first-ever match, the East Texas Baptist University beach volleyball program took on a storied team in Texas A&M University Kingsville. ETBU battled hard in each match but fell, 5-0.
Ashley Salas and
Annika Demuth had the closest match at number one going three sets. They won the first set, 21-17, but then fell, 17-21, and 5-15 in the third set.
Madison McDonald and
Hope Shipp had a strong first set falling, 18-21, and then fell in set two, 9-21, at number two.
Nadia Brockway and
Mollee McCurley made it a close number three match but came up short, 12-21, 9-21.
Riley Reneau and
Shelby Freudensprung were in the number four match dropping it, 19-21, and 12-21. Finishing out at number five were
Riley Tuck and
Maggie Smitherman at 9-21, 12-21.
ETBU will be back at in on Friday taking on Utah at 11:15 a.m. and then Missouri Baptist at 4:15 p.m.
