ABILENE, Texas – Taking one of the best teams in the American Southwest Conference West Division, East Texas Baptist University fell to Hardin-Simmons University, 8-1. ETBU is now 5-2 on the year and went 1-1 in Abilene.
 
HSU started off with a 3-0 lead in doubles with the number two match as the closest. Jayde Childress and Grayce Malone fell to Laurel Coleman and Jonnah Smith, 8-6. ETBU fell in the number one match, 8-4, and number three match, 8-2.
 
Maryam Sharfeldin won the number six match for ETBU for the lone point in a tiebreaker, 6-3, 4-6, 10-5, over Taja Lawrence. Fernanada Ruiz Burkart fell at number five in a tiebreaker, 3-6, 6-2, 7-10.
 
ETBU will be at home on Friday, March 3, hosting Concordia University Texas at 2:00 p.m.
