MARSHALL, Texas – Two more wins were added to the historic weekend for the East Texas Baptist University beach volleyball program as they finished 4-1 in their five matches. On Saturday, ETBU went 2-0 with wins over Ottawa University (Kan.) and Oklahoma Wesleyan University. ETBU has now won four out of their last five matches.
ETBU 4, Ottawa 1
ETBU swept through matches three through five for a 3-0 lead and victory to start the morning.
Riley Tuck and
Shelby Freudensprung won at the number five competition, 21-17, 21-11.
Libby Gear and
Nadia Brockway then took the number four meeting, 23-21, 21-16, for the 2-0 lead.
Hope Shipp and
Mollee McCurley earned the third point, 21-19, 21-18, for the win.
Ashley Salas and
Madison McDonald then won the number one match, 21-14, 21-11, for the fourth point.
ETBU 3, Oklahoma Wesleyan 2
Coming down to the third match for the win, Shipp and McCurley held off Ashlynn Farrell and Maddy McKinney (OKWU) in three sets, 17-21, 21-18, 15-13, coming back after being down in set one. Gear and Brockway took the number four meeting, 21-19, 21-18, and Tuck and Freudensprung won at number five, 21-19, 21-18.
ETBU will host Mary Hardin-Baylor on Wednesday, March 22, at 3:00 and 5:00 p.m.
