SB | ETBU Bats Silenced in Belton as Tigers Drop Two Games

BELTON, Texas – Not able to get their bats going in the first two games against the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, #7 East Texas Baptist University came away with two losses in American Southwest Conference play, 2-1, and 8-2. ETBU is now 16-3 overall and 5-3 in the ASC.
 
Delanie Loya led ETBU with three hits and two RBI on the day as the team only recorded six hits on the day.
 
Game 1
UMHB 2, ETBU 1

Two scoreless innings took place before UMHB took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning on a double. ETBU answered back in the top of the fourth as Loya doubled in Courtney White to tie the game at one. Another UMHB double in the bottom of the fifth inning put the Crusaders ahead, 2-1. In the top of seventh inning, ETBU had the tying run on second with two outs but a strike out ended the game.
 
Loya was 2-of-3 with one RBI as she collected both hits in the game. Hannah Kelley received the loss going five innings with two strikeouts and two earned runs. Marin Musicant finished the sixth inning allowing just one hit.
 
Game 2
UMHB 8, ETBU 2

UMHB took a 5-0 lead after the fourth inning no hitting ETBU that long until Loya broke it up with a home run in the top of fifth inning. UMHB added three more runs in the bottom of the sixth for an 8-1 lead. Tristen Maddox singled in Hannah A. Kelley for the second ETBU run in the bottom of the seventh as ETBU fell in the second game.
 
Four different players had a hit in the game as Maddox and Loya each had a RBI. Ashley Croft was given her first loss of the year going two innings with one strikeout and three earned runs on six hits. Musicant worked two innings with six hits and two earned runs. Kelley finished the final two innings allowing three earned runs on two this with two strikeouts.
 
ETBU will have one game on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. to finish out the series.
