MARSHALL, Texas – In a close contest that was decided by three tiebreaking matches, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor came away with the 6-3 win over East Texas Baptist University in men's tennis. ETBU is now 4-5 on the year.
The first tie-breaking match came in doubles number two as
Sam Black and
Bruno Ferraro Brocanelli lost, 8-7, to Brylee White and Spencer Hornbeck. ETBU then fell in number one and number three matches, 8-5.
Black then fell in a number one singles, 2-6-6-4, 4-6, in the second tiebreaking match of the game. The final tiebreaking match that was the difference came at number six singles as
Jacob Daniell dropped a 6-2, 7-6 match that almost went into three sets.
ETBU earned their three points with one coming in doubles as
Zachary Couch and Slade won the number three match, 8-5.
Bruno Ferraro Brocanelli won 6-2, 6-4, at number two singles and Austin took a tie breaking match at number four singles, 4-6, 6-3, 13-11.
ETBU will play the University of Dallas at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
