MARSHALL, Texas – Staying perfect at home on the year, #10 East Texas Baptist University swept the American Southwest Conference series over the University of Texas Dallas, 3-1. ETBU is now 29-5 and 16-5 in the ASC.
Hannah Kelley pitched the entire game recording eight strikeouts allowing just one run on four hits. She also retired the side in the second, fourth, and seventh innings.
Courtney White,
Delanie Loya, and
Ashley Croft all had two hits and one RBI to lead the team.
After two scoreless innings, Croft singled in
Tristen Maddox in the third inning for a 1-0 lead. In the fourth inning, White doubled to left center field as
Mary Frances Ellis scored. Loya made it 3-0 in with a single down the left field line bringing in White. It wasn't until the sixth inning that UTD scored on a lead off home run to start the inning. After two straight outs, UTD had a single and the runner advanced to second on a steal before the game came to an end on a groundout.
ETBU will travel to the University of the Ozarks next weekend for a three-game series.
