Box Score 2 MARSHALL, Texas – As rain loomed from the East and grey clouds replaced blue skies, the East Texas Baptist University Tigers defeated the University of the Ozarks Eagles 4-3 and 14-5. ETBU is now 29-10 on the season and 23-3 in the ASC. Sayers Collins and Hayden Robichaux received the wins, while Jase Jones and Jordan Hara led the team with four hits, while Jones and Brett Wagner led in RBIs, with 5 and 4, respectively.
GAME 1
Collins had seven strikeouts in his six innings while giving up six hits and two earned runs. Trent Clark came in relief to set up Cody Johnson, who earned the save. Jordan Hara and Ben Lea both went two for three with a pair of RBIs.
Hara opened the scoring in the bottom of the first, when he homered on his first at bat, driving in Carson Wilson, 2-0. The Tigers scored again in the third with a hit by Ben Lea which sent home Hara, 3-0. The Eagles had two runs in the fifth and sixth, 3-2. ETBU responded with a homer by Lea in the bottom of the sixth, 4-2. Ozark's put up a run in the top of the seventh, but Tiger defense and pitching held strong to win the game, 4-3.
GAME 2
Robichaux and Jagger Neely split the second game, with Robichaux taking the win off of seven hits and no earned runs. Neely then came in to finish it off, giving up two hits and two earned runs. Both pitchers allowed a home run.
Ozarks began the game with a run in the top of the second, 1-0. Jones opened the scoring for ETBU, with a two-run shot to score Wagner, 2-1. In the top of the third, Ozarks had a two-run homer, 3-2. Wilson was the next to pick up an RBI, by driving in Jacob Evangelista with a double, 3-3. Wagner turned around and drove in Wilson with a single, 4-3. Jones had his only non-homerun hit of the game with an RBI single, sending home Hara, 5-3. Christopher Shay was the next to drive in a run, this one with a sacrifice fly, bringing home Wagner. Hara scored on an error in the fourth, while Jones hit another homer in the fifth, 8-3. Wagner scored a 3 RBI homerun in the sixth, followed by a homer by Jones, 12-3. Ozarks had another two-run homerun in the seventh, 12-5. The Tigers put up a 2 RBI dinger by Evangelista for the 14-5 win. Jase Jones was 4 for 5 with three home runs and 5 RBIs.
ETBU will play Ozarks in game three on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
