Box Score CLARKSVILLE, Ar. – As they near the end of the season, the East Texas Baptist University Tigers completed their series against the University of the Ozarks Eagles in a sweep, 8-3. They are now 32-5 on the season and 19-5 in the ASC. Jalen Perez led the Tigers in hits, going 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs, while Delanie Loya was 2 for 4 with 3 RBIs. Ashley Croft received the win, striking out 5 and only allowing 2 earned runs, while Toni Tamborello got the save off of three perfect innings.
The Eagles took the lead early, with a three-spot in the bottom of the first, 3-0. The Tigers got one back in the top of the second, when Perez doubled to center to bring home Tauryn Cummings, 3-1. ETBU then took the lead in the third with a two-run shot by Loya and another hit by Perez to bring home Cummings to make it a 4-1 ballgame. After a scoreless fourth, the Tigers scored one more in the top of the fifth, when Marin Musicant singled to bring in Perez to make it 5-1. The Tigers kept the pressure on in the sixth, with another three runs. Courtney White brought home Tristan Maddox with a single and would then score herself on a single by Loya, 7-3. The third run of the inning came from Braelyn Buchanan, who came home on a Courtney Carpenter single. This brought the score to where it would be after seven, at 8-3.
The Tigers will finish their regular season at home Friday, May 5th at 5:00 and 7:00 pm against the Sul Ross State University Lobos.
