TAME | WBB | Ireland Recap #9

5/25/2023 8:08:00 AM

Today's recap is provided by senior Kenidi White, sophomore nursing major Jayla Hall and freshman Ava Pointer.

"Today was unexplainably breath-taking. I have a slight fear of being in unfamiliar open waters and quite frankly when we were told that we would be getting the chance to jump into the Northern Atlantic Ocean at our own discretion, I was ALL IN because it's a once in a lifetime moment," said White. "That was my thought before knowing how cold the water would actually be or how the weather would be a 'wee chilly'. When we got to the ocean, my mind was racing with thoughts of uncertainty of what to expect and kind of second guessing my mental state about the situation I was about to put myself in. Then I came to the realization while walking down to the water that this was the time to do it, these are the people I'm supposed to experience this with, and it ended up being a period of time that we just forgot about everything that mattered and enjoyed each others presence."

White stated, "I jumped in with my teammate Kaia and it was beyond colder than what I originally thought, but in that moment I just sat back in shock that I not only conquered a tiny fear of mine, but more importantly got to do it amongst the most amazing group of people. It felt as if I needed a fresh start and this experience alone gave me motivation to have a 'new beginning' to my chapter of this life I'm about to walk into and I cannot be more happy that I got to do it with people who have encouraged me to take on this next chapter with a heart check. This is crazily exactly what I needed and I'm just super grateful for the opportunity to have been on this trip."

Pointer touched on how the day continued with a hike and seeing the ruins of Downhill Demesne. It included ruins of multiple buildings that were on a family land along with their breath taking view of the beach. To end our site seeing for the day, we took a 2 mile hike up the side of a mountain and down to see stones that overlook the ocean. "I have truly never seen something so beautiful. Once we got to the top I simply looked out and said 'wow, our God created all of this.' There are no words to describe the masterpiece we saw today."

After the hike we worked up the hunger for the best fish and chips in the UK, Mortons. "Being able to experience the best common foods of countries when traveling is always what I look forward to," said Hall. "The fish and chips were amazing. It was a 10/10 for sure. It was definitely a savoring last dinner to end the trip on."

As we fly back to Texas tomorrow morning, please be in prayer for us as we travel and continue the mission God laid upon our hearts during this trip.
