MARSHALL, Texas - On a scorcher of a night at Cornish Field, the East Texas Baptist University men's soccer team tied Millsaps College, 2-2, in their third match of the year. ETBU is now 0-1-2 on the season and earns their first tie in the series with Millsaps.
ETBU held the bulk of possession throughout the match and led with 27 shots landing 17 on goal.
Dylan Garcia and
Leonardo Esteban each scored once for the Tigers, while Garcia and
Bruno Palmieri were tied for the lead in shots (4) and shots on goal (2). Tristan Welchel had two saves while the Majors' keeper collected 15.
ETBU was dominant throughout the match with pinpoint passing and dangerous crosses made for the full 90 minutes. Garcia opened the scoring with a screamer from the top of the 18-yard box at 6:30 into the match. Millsaps would equalize near the end of the first half for a 1-1 tie at the break.
The Tigers would continue to press hard in the second half, but were unable to find the net until the 87
th minute.
Leonardo Esteban found himself with an opportunity and slotted it home to give ETBU a late lead, 2-1. Millsaps would equalize again in the 90
th minute to pull the score level, where it would finish, 2-2.
The Tigers will play their next match at home this Saturday at 1:00 p.m. against Belhaven University.
