MARSHALL, Texas – Opening up the match with three goals in the first half, East Texas Baptist University crushed the Millsaps College, 5-2, in women's soccer action. The win is the first of the year for ETBU as they move 1-0-2 for the season.
Sarah Ramos scored an incredible three goals completing a perfect hat socring one goal with her left foot, right foot, and one with her head. Her first goal was scored at the 35:30 in the first half. She then collected her second goal at 38:34 with an assist from a
Gabrielle Casimiro. The final goal of the game was scored with an assist from
Karen Juarez at 89:49 making it 5-2.
Cheyenne Vick scored a goal in the first half as well at 35:43 with an assist from
Elizabeth Wynne.
Caroline Wilemon netted ETBU's fourth goal of the game making it 4-1 at 67:42 with an assist from Wynne.
In the first half, the Tigers fired a total of 10 shots with seven of them being on target. Ramos fired four shots, Wynne and Laredo added two shots, and Wilemon &
Cheyenne Vick took one shot.
Addison Funk led the team in saves with three, all of them occurring in the first half.
The second half brought 10 more ETBU shots with five of them being on goal.
Karen Juarez had a total of three shots as Ramos and Wilemon had two shots and Laredo and Izaguirre each had one shot. The Tigers also held possession of the ball 59% of the time this game.
ETBU will face off against Belhaven University at home on September 9, at 3:30 P.M.
