MARSHALL, Texas – For the second time in three seasons, three different East Texas Baptist University men's soccer student-athletes have been named American Southwest Conference Players of the Week. This week, Joel Garcia was given his second ASC weekly award in his career as the Offensive Player of the Week. He was last Player of the Week on Sept. 13, 2022.
 
Garcia played a big part in ETBU's 4-1 win over Howard Payne University recording three points. ETBU is now 7-7-1 and 2-3-1 in the ASC.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Joel Garcia, M, Sr., East Texas Baptist
East Texas Baptist senior midfielder Joel Garcia (Palestine, Texas) came off the bench in both matches to kick start ETBU's offense. He had the first goal of the match versus HSU in the 60^th minute in a 2-1 loss. Garcia then had a goal and assist in the 4-1 win over HPU. He scored the go-ahead goal in the 72^nd minute to go up 2-1 and had the assist on the third goal of the match in the 83^rd minute.
