3-AND-OOHHHHH
For the first time since 2017, ETBU has started off their season at 3-0. They have earned double-digit wins over LaGrange College, Hendrix College, and Centenary College. ETBU started 3-0 in 2017 under first-year head coach Scott Highsmith. That year they started with wins over Nelson University (formerly SAGU), 59-17, Southwestern (TX), 28-10, and Belhaven, 79-40, before falling to #6 Hardin-Simmons. In 2016, ETBU had the program's best start under current UTEP head coach Scotty Walden going 5-0. They opened up with a 44-20 win over #21 Texas Lutheran followed by a win vs. Nelson, 85-23, Southwestern (TX), 33-23, Belhaven, 60-47, and McMurry, 67-31. UMHB broke that win streak with a 59-22 win in Marshall.

ETBU remains just one of four programs in Texas are undefeated joining the University of Texas, Texas Wesleyan, and Hardin-Simmons.

HITTING THE CENTURY MARK
Paul Woodard has recorded 100+ yard rushing in two of the first three games of the year. This is the first time since 2019 that ETBU has produced a running back to have 100+ yards rushing in two or more games in a season. Jeremiah Robertson did in 2019 with back-to-back games in Sept. 21 vs. Texas Lutheran (150 yards) and Sul Ross State on Sept. 28 (115 yards). He then had three straight 100+ yard games with 129 yards v. McMurry (Oct. 19), 169 yards vs. HPU (Oct. 26), and 104 yards vs. Southwestern (Nov. 2).

Woodard ran for 113 yards vs. Centenary and 115 yards against LaGrange producing 256 yards on the year.

He is also the first player to rush for three touchdowns in a game since 2021 when Alek Child did it at Sul Ross State and is the 10th ETBU player to record three or more rushing touchdowns in a game.

SCORING POINTS AND TAKING NAMES
ETBU is fifth in the nation for scoring offense but leads the nation in total offense. They are averaging 55.7 points and 599 yards of offense per game. ETBU has not see these type of video game numbers since 2018 when they averaged 510 yards per game under current Houston Christian University head coach Jason Bachtel. In 2016, when Scotty Walden was head coach, his offense averaged 568 yards and 49.9 points per game.

This is also the first time since 2018 that ETBU produced back-to-back games with over 600+ yards of total offense.  In 2018 they had 671 vs. Sul Ross State and then 793 yards vs. McMurry. This year, they posted 687 yards vs. LaGrange and 617 yards against Hendrix.

GETTING STINGY ON D
ETBU has produced six interceptions, nine sacks, forced four fumbles, and recovered the ball six times. They also have 26.5 tackles for loss. In the win over Hendrix, ETBU had three interceptions and two forced fumbles. They are third in the nation in turnover margin.

ASC OPENERS
ETBU has had 24 ASC openers and is 13-11 in those games. They have won their last two ASC openers vs. Austin College, 35-7, last year, and McMurry, 28-7, in 2022. ETBU has opened up in the ASC vs. UMHB just once in 2021 in Belton and fell, 34-14. ETBU won four straight ASC openers from 2015 through 2018. They had a five-game losing streak in openers from 2010 through 2014.
