MARSHALL, Texas – Staying perfect on opening day, East Texas Baptist University earned their second straight shutout win, 9-0, over McMurry University. ETBU started the day with a 9-0 win over the University of Dallas and is now 2-0.
 
Doubles play went pretty easily for ETBU with two 8-0 wins. Orren Ladner and Zachary Couch won at number three, 8-0. Jacob Daniell and Erick Van Zyl also won 8-0 at number two doubles. Sam Black and Max Karseno then won 8-3 at number one.
 
Five of the six single matches only allowed one or two points. The closest singles match came at number five when Slade Austin won 2-6, 6-1, 10-6. Black took the number one match, 6-2, 6-1, and then Karseno won the number two match, 6-0, 6-1. Couch then won the number three match, 6-0, 6-0, and Ladner then won the number five meeting, 6-2, 6-0. Daniell finished off with a 6-1, 6-1, win at number six.
 
ETBU will take on Dallas Baptist University on Tuesday, Feb. 20, at 2:00 p.m. in Marshall.
