MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Seeing strong competition to start the 2024 season, East Texas Baptist University played three programs at the 2024 Huntingdon College Beach Volleyball Classic. After two close matches on day one, ETBU won their first match of the season on day two over Loyola University New Orleans, 4-1. ETBU is now 1-2 on the year.
ETBU won four of the five matches on Saturday against Loyola-New Orleans.
Callie Humphrey and
Bella Sigala won the number one match in three sets for the 1-0 lead. Maddison McDonald and Shelbe Adkins then won the number two match in two sets.
Nadia Brockway and
Mona Salgado made it 3-0 for the win claiming match number three in two sets.
Peyton Fredrick and
Kyleigh Pate then won match five in two for the fourth point.
ETBU faced storied program Huntingdon College on Friday and 2023 National Champion Hendrix College falling in both matches, 3-2.
ETBU will travel to the Texas A&M Kingsville Tournament next weekend and face Mary Hardin-Baylor, A&M-Kingsville, and Missouri Baptist.
