MARSHALL, Texas – In the first week of softball, East Texas Baptist University has swept the American Southwest Conference Player of the Week awards.
Tristen Maddox and
Hannah Benavides have been given the hitter and pitcher of the week.
ETBU went 3-1 on the week sweeping Southwestern University. Maddox earns her third ASC Hitter of the Week award as Benavides gains her first in her first collegiate start.

HITTER OF THE WEEK – Tristen Maddox, SS, Sr., East Texas Baptist
East Texas Baptist senior shortstop
Tristen Maddox (Mission, Texas) opened up the 2024 season hitting over .600 helping ETBU to a 3-1 record. She had a slugging percentage of over 1.000, scored seven times, brought in six of ETBU's 18 runs in four games. She was 1-of-1 vs. Trinity in game one with a double and RBI and 2-of3 in game two with three RBI. In game 1 against Southwestern, she went 3-of-3 and then had two hits in game two with two RBI.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Hannah Benavides, RHP, Jr., East Texas Baptist
East Texas Baptist freshman right-handed pitcher
Hannah Benavides (Deer Park, Texas) earned her first collegiate win in an 8-0, five-inning win over Southwestern. She allowed just two hits and walked one, while striking out two and retiring the side twice.
