MG | ETBU Places Third in Match Play at UTD's Lidlifter Invite

RICHARDSON, Texas – It was a unique invite to start the 2024 spring season as the East Texas Baptist University men's golf team participated in the Texas Dallas Lidlifter Spring Invite. This invited featured match play on both days. ETBU would take on both LeTourneau University and Hendrix College placing third overall. Jack Sladek made the Lidlifter All-Tournament team for being three under in the two day invite.
 
In day one, ETBU fell to LeTourneau, 6-0, in the match play. Truit Steen had the closest chance to earn a point falling by one stroke, shooting a 74. They tied on seven of the 18 holes as he won holes two (-1) and 19 (-2).
 
Kip Childress also fell by one stroke, 72-71. His 72 was the best round for ETBU on the day. There were six ties as he won holes 12 and 18.
 
ETBU tied on day two with a 2-2-2 score but won on the tie-breaker. Colby Conner won his match by eight strokes with only one tie in 18 holes, 75 to 83. He won 10 holes overall. Sladek then won his match with a team best 69 to 72. There was also one tie as he won seven holes. Hutton Hoelscher and Steen both tied their opponents. Hoelscher shot a 78 with six ties winning five holes. Steen then tied with a 74 with six ties. He won six holes for the tie.
 
ETBU will next compete at the Pinecrest Invitational hosted by LeTourneau University on March 10-12.
