MARSHALL, Texas – Unleashing for 11 runs in the second inning, #4 East Texas Baptist University run-ruled Concordia University Texas, 13-2, in the final game of the series. ETBU is now 14-1 and 6-0 in the ASC.
Courtney White led the team with six RBI going 3-of-4 and scored twice.
Tristen Maddox,
Tauryn Cummings, and
Haylie Stum all had two hits. Cummings, Stum,
Emma Bell, and
Madalyn Melton all had one RBI while
Elizabeth Watkins had two RBI.
Ava Rodriguez went three inning for the win with one strikeout and Melton finished the final two innings also recording a strikeout.
CTX opened the game scoring two runs in the top of the first inning for a 2-0 lead. ETBU responded with two in the bottom of the first as White singled in Maddox for the first run. White then scored on a Bell sacrifice fly to tie the game at two.
The bottom of the second became the game changer as ETBU added 11 runs to the scoreboard.
Shelby Navarrete was the first run to come in on a stolen base. Cummings and Stum both then had RBI hits adding two more runs. Cummings then came home on a wild pitch. Melton earned a RBI when she was walked with the bases loaded to make it, 8-2. A fielding error allowed two more runs to come in and then White finished off the scoring with a bases clearing single for three RBI and a 13-2 lead.
ETBU will host Mary Hardin-Baylor next weekend in another ASC Series.
