DESOTO, Texas – Amongst some of the best programs in the south, the East Texas Baptist University men's golf team finished in sixth out of 10 teams at the Texas Cup. The tournament was a three-round tournament played at Thorntree Country Club as two ETBU players finished in the top 20 in Jack Sladek (10^th) and Kip Childress (15^th).
 
ETBU shot a 908 as all three rounds were in the low 300s. They had a 303 in round one, 301 in round two, and a 304 in round three. They were just 13 strokes off of being in the top five.
 
Sladek was the top golfer coming in tied for 10^th with a 220 (74-71-75). His best round came in round two with a 71. Childress then shot a 223 (72-74-77) to tie for 15^th place with the first round being his best at 72.
 
Caleb Kesting was then 45^th with a 234 (78-81-75) shooting a 75 in the final round. Colby Connor was then 48^th with a 237 (80-77-80) and Hutton Hoelscher in 50^th (79-82-77=238). Truett Steen came in 60^th with a 245 (81-79-85).
 
ETBU will next participate in the Linda Lowery Invite at Concordia University Texas on Mar. 25-26 in Austin, Texas.
