MARSHALL, Texas – Opening up with a sweep on the first day of the Tiger Invitational, the East Texas Baptist University Beach Volleyball Team earned wins over Texas Wesleyan University and Oklahoma Wesleyan University. ETBU is currently 6-7 on the year.
It was a cool, rainy day but that didn't stop ETBU from two, 4-1, wins. ETBU has now won five of their last six matches.
The Tigers played well in the first match with a, 4-1, win over Texas Wesleyan.
Callie Humphrey and
Bella Sigala won flight no.1, 21-14, 21-8 for the first point.
Madison McDonald and
Shelbee Adkins won flight no.2, 21-15, 21-14.
Peyton Fredrick and
Hannah Perry then secured a win in flight no.4 with a, 21-15, 21-19.
Sofia Castillo and
Sadie Blue finished strong winning flight no.5, 21-12, 21-18.
Match two on the day, ETBU continued their example of excellence with another 4-1 victory taking it over Oklahoma Wesleyan. McDonald and Adkins started the momentum for the Tigers with a win in flight no.2, 21-19, 21-18. Brockway and Salgado then won flight no.3 in three sets , 18-21, 21-16, 15-11, to go up, 2-1. Fredrick and Perry made it 3-1 advantage in flight no.4, 21-14, 21-14. Castillo and Blue then took a win in flight no.5 to finish out the day, 21-15, 16-21, 15-10.
ETBU will face the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor at 1:00 PM and Oklahoma Wesleyan University again at 3:30 PM.
