BELTON, Texas – Headed to Central Texas for the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Beach Volleyball Tournament, East Texas Baptist University went 2-2 in two days of play. ETBU is now 9-10 on the year.
On Thursday, ETBU went 1-1 falling to Ottawa (KS), 3-2, but bouncing back with a 4-1 win over Oklahoma Wesleyan. In that win,
Callie Humphrey and
Bella Sigala won the no.1 match in three sets, 21-14, 18-21, 17-15.
Madison McDonald and Shelbe Adkins took the no. 2 match (21-19, 21-19) and then
Mona Salgado and
Nadia Brockway clinched the win at no. 3 with a 21-12, 21-16 win.
Sofia Castillo and
Sadie Blue also won the no. 5 match, 21-17, 18-21, 15-6, for the fourth win.
Friday brought two more matches where ETBU fell in their first match, 4-1, to UMHB. They finished the tournament strong squeaking out a 3-2 win over Texas Wesleyan. ETBU won the no. 1, no. 3, and no. 4 matches to take the win. Sigala and Humphrey won the no. 1 match, 16-21, 22-20, 15-9, coming back after losing in set one. Brockway and Salgado the won in three sets at no. 3, 19-21, 21-13, 15-12, also coming back to win. In no. 4,
Bailee Kitchen and
Hannah Perry won in three sets, 21-16, 16-21, 15-13, to take the match win.
ETBU will be at the Vikings Classic in Georgia on April 5-6 next weekend.
