BROWNWOOD, Texas – A final tune-up before the American Southwest Conference Championships took place at The Hideout Golf Club as Howard Payne University hosted the Battle in Brownwood. The East Texas Baptist University men's golf team came in sixth place as
Caleb Kesting finished in the top 20.
ETBU shot a 638 in the two-day tournament with a 321 on day one and a 317 on day two. They were just six strokes off of fifth place Hardin-Simmons. Kesting finished with a 153 for 12
th place shooting an 80 in the first round and shaving seven strokes off his score on day two for a 73.
Jack Sladek then came in 22
nd with a 157 (78-79).
Kip Childress rounded out the top 35 coming in 34
th with a 163 (81-82). Truett Steen was then 37
th with a 165 (82-83) as Colby Connor was 43
rd (82-87=169).
Hutton Hoelscher finished in 46
th with a 174 (85-89). Playing as an individual,
Grayson Griffith was 47
th with a 178 (91-87).
ETBU will be at the ASC Championships on Apr. 19-21 in Granbury, Texas, at the Nutcracker Golf Club.
