MARSHALL, Texas – A shake up took place in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association National Poll in week eight as East Texas Baptist University moved up one spot to no. 3 in the nation. Trine University, who was the top team in the nation, lost twice last week dropping to fourth allowing ETBU to move up a spot. This is the highest ETBU has been ranked since earning a no. 2 ranking on March 24, 2021. ETBU softball and baseball are just one of two programs in the nation nationally ranked in the top five for both sports with Salisbury University (Md.).
 
ETBU earned 230 points to move up one spot from no. 4 to no. 3. All three teams ahead of ETBU moved up one spot as Linfield University (240 pts) is no. 2 and Salisbury (250 pts) is no. 1 with all 10 first-place votes. Trine University moved down three spots to no. 4 and Berry College stayed no. 5.
 
Teams in the South/West Region that are ranked are Berry College (no. 5), Belhaven University (Miss.) at no. 6, Huntingdon (Ala.) at no. 9, and Texas Lutheran at no. 11.
 
This is the 140^th week in a row that ETBU has been ranked and is currently 27-2 and 17-1 in the American Southwest Conference. They travel to Richardson, Texas, to face Texas Dallas this weekend.
