AWARD | MG | Sladek is Co-ASC Golfer of the Year; Childress Earns Two ASC Awards

MARSHALL, Texas – Making his name a stand alone for the East Texas Baptist University men's golf program, Jack Sladek has been named the co-American Southwest Conference Golfer of the Year. Along with Sladek, Kip Childress was named to the All-ASC Tournament team and is All-ASC honorable mention.

Both of the players helped ETBU win the fall ASC Preview Tournament in Granbury as Sladek won the event with a 143 (71-72). Childress came in third with a 147 (75-72). Last year, ETBU finished as the ASC Tournament runners-up and were fifth this year. ETBU also had a third-place finish at the fall Tempest Intercollegiate and came in third at the Lidlifter Match Play Challenge.

Sladek becomes the program's first-ever ASC Golfer of the Year voted on by the ASC golf coaches. This is his fourth All-ASC award as he is a two-time All-ASC first team selection ('23, '24) and was honorable mention in 2022. He has also been the ASC Golfer of the Week, twice, this year on Mar. 13 and Oct. 19. This year brought six top 10 finishes as one was winning a match play vs. Hendrix. He was the medalist of the ASC Fall Preview in Granbury on October 15.

Childress earns his fifth ASC award and third-straight All-ASC team award. He is a two-time ASC All-Tournament member ('23, '24) and was All-ASC honorable mention, twice, ('22, '24) while making the All-ASC second team in 2023. This year, he finished third at the 2024 ASC Championship Tournament with a 141 (70-71) coming just two strokes of the medalist. Last year he tied for first at the ASC Championships but lost in the playoff for the medalist award.
