#TIGERSWIN | SB | Exciting Rivalry Series Ends ETBU's Way in Ninth Inning, 6-3

LONGVIEW, Texas – A three-run ninth inning gave no. 4 East Texas Baptist University a 6-3 win in extra innings over LeTourneau University to take the American Southwest Conference series. ETBU is now 24-2 overall and 14-1 in the ASC.
 
ETBU recorded 11 hits as four players had two hits each in Tristen Maddox, Courtney White, Haylie Stum, and Madalyn Melton. Stum led the team with two RBI as Emma Bell, Tauryn Cummings, White and Maddox each added a RBI.
 
Avery Holland started the game going three innings giving up two earned runs, four hits, and had two strikeouts. Kassidy Cravey finished the final six innings to move to 2-0 allowing one run on four hits with one strikeout.
 
Scoring first with two runs in the first inning, ETBU's bats were hot. Four hits came in the first two innings for ETBU for three runs. With two outs and two in scoring position in the first inning, Stum singled to left center field bringing in Cummings and White. In the second inning, Maddox singled through the left side with two outs as Delanie Loya came in for the three-run lead.
 
LETU pulled to within one, 3-2, by scoring two runs in the third inning. Three scoreless innings entailed until the bottom of the seventh when LETU brought in the tying run with one out. After a scoreless eighth inning, ETBU took over the extra innings with three runs in the ninth. White broke the 3-3 tie on a bunt single that allowed Maddox to score making it 4-3. Cummings followed with a ground out RBI as Maddox came in for a two-run lead. Bell then made it three straight runs in the inning with a sacrifice fly to center field as White was the sixth run of the game.
 
Cravey then went one-two-three retiring the side of LETU in the bottom of the ninth for the win.
 
ETBU will host Hardin-Simmons University on April 12-13 for a three-game ASC series.
