MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Earning the program's first-ever NCAA Division III All-American Award for women's track and field,
Neelie Schiel finished in the top 16 at the National Track and Field Championships. Schiel came in 11
th place being named to the NCAA All-American second team.
Schiel threw 41.24 (135'4") on her first attempt of the day to finish in 11
th place. She just about two feet short from being in the finals as the eighth-place finalist threw 42.00 (137'9"). This is her second appearance at the National Meet as she also finished 11
th last year with a throw of 130'4".
For the program, she becomes the first women's track athlete to go to back-to-back national meets and is just the third overall. Tia Steen-Baker went in 2019 for the 100-meter dash and Chisom Bright-Osigwe ran in the 100 and 200 meter dash in 2022.
