ASC | MTN | ETBU Finishes as ASC Tournament Runners-Up; Karseno, Slade Make All-Tournament Team

WACO, Texas – It is a season to remember for the East Texas Baptist University men's tennis team as they finish as the American Southwest Conference Tournament runners-up. ETBU fell in the championship match to Concordia University Texas, 5-1, at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center ending their season at 15-6.
 
Max Karseno and Slade Austin made the ASC All-Tournament team for their play.
 
ETBU set a program record with 15 wins and defeated the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and Hardin-Simmons University for the first time in program history. For the first time, also, they won the ASC East Division and advanced to the ASC Tournament Championship match.
 
In the championship match, ETBU battled the reigning ASC champs in doubles winning one match. All three matches were within one to two points. Sam Black and Max Karseno won the no. 1 doubles, 8-7, winning the tie breaker, 7-5. At no. 2, Jacob Daniell and Erick Van Zyl fell, 8-6, to Kishan Kersten and Daniel Beckles. Zachary Couch and Slade Austin then fell, 8-6, at no. 3 to Joeri Bregman and Esteban Arredondo.
 
CTX then took the no. 3, no.4, and no. 6 matches to win the match. Orren Ladner lost at no. 3, 6-1, 6-2, to Steven Scholz. Couch fell at no. 4 to Kersten, 6-0, 6-0. Beckles then won the no. 6 match over Van Zyl, 6-0, 6-3, to end the match.    
 
ETBU ends their season at 15-6 and the ASC East Division champions.
