MARSHALL, Texas – Staying ranked as a top 10 baseball program in 2024, East Texas Baptist University finishes the year ranked in three different polls. ETBU is no. 8 in the final American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and Perfect Game poll and no. 9 in the D3baseball.com Poll. It is the second straight year for ETBU to finish in the top 10 as they were fifth and sixth last year.
In the final ABCA poll, ETBU earned 440 points for eighth place. They had been ranked as high as third in the ABCA poll with 551 points in week seven. In the 10-week poll, ETBU was ranked in the top 10 for nine weeks.
The Perfect Game ranked teams monthly and finished the year with ETBU in eighth place. They were in the top 10 for all four polls and were the no. 1 team in March. April they were third and May and June finished in eighth. It is the first-time in program history that the program had ever received a no. 1 ranking.
D3baseball.com vote ETBU in ninth place with 393 points. ETBU had been ranked as high as no. 2 in the nation which is the highest ever in the D3baseball.com poll in week 10 with 578 points. They started the season ranked fifth and stayed in the top 10 for all 13 polls.
ETBU finished the year with a 39-9 record winning the ASC Regular season championship and the NCAA Marshall, Texas Regional Championship. They won seven games over nationally ranked teams as three of the teams they faced made the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament. ETBU also was the no. 1 ranked team in the Region 10 all in all three Regional Rankings.
