THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Continuing to show the nation why they are one of the best in NCAA Division III, no. 23 East Texas Baptist University claimed two more wins on day two of the Cal Lu Fornia. They opened Saturday with a sweep over UC Santa Cruz and finished with a five-set win over no. 9 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. ETBU is now 10-1 and won their last nine matches.
It was the first win in program history for ETBU over a top 10 ranked team. In 2015, ETBU defeated no. 11 Colorado College in five sets. It is also the second match in two weeks against a top 10 ranked team as ETBU fell to then no. 8 Trinity, 3-2.

ETBU took a 25-17, 25-17, 25-9, three-set win over the Banana Slugs in their first match on Saturday. ETBU hit .267 with 40 kills and 53 digs with eight blocks holding UCSC to just a .019 hitting percentage.
Graycee Mosley recorded another double-double with 15 kills (.355 hitting %) and 11 digs.
Avery Reid added 10 kills with a .421 hitting percentage and six digs.
Lexi Moody (15 assists) and
McKenzie Mansell (14 assists) led the offense as
Callie Humphrey had 21 digs on defense.
Anita Hancock recorded five blocks as
Raylynn Pitts added four blocks.

Down 2-0, 22-25, 19-25, ETBU bounced back with three straight set wins, 25-17, 25-21, 15-11, to upset no. 9 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. ETBU had 65 kills with a .236 hitting percentage holding CMS to just a .205 hitting percentage. ETBU's best set came in the fifth set, hitting .409 with 11 kills. They posted 20 kills in set four with a .375 hitting percentage.
Mosley, Reid, and Hancock all had double digits in kills. Mosley made it another double-double with 22 kills and 13 digs. Reid added 18 kills and seven digs while Hancock added 11 kills with four blocks. Humphrey gave 13 digs as Moody recorded 25 assists and Mansell had 24 assists.
Grace Williamson finished with six blocks and five kills (.333 hitting percentage).
In the fifth set, ETBU went up, 5-1, on a Mosley kill. A Sadie Kaswoski service ace made it 10-5 but CMS pulled to within two, 12-10. A CMS attack error and a Mosley kill put the score at 14-10. Mosley then finished off CMS with a kill to take the match.
