#TIGERSWIN | VB | #17 ETBU Opens ASC Play Sweeping LETU

LONGVIEW, Texas – Opening up American Southwest Conference play on the road, no. 17 East Texas Baptist University came away with a close, 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-19), sweep over LeTourneau University. ETBU is now 12-1 and 1-0 in the ASC and has won 11 straight matches.
 
ETBU recorded 45 kills with eight service aces and 12 total blocks in the win. Graycee Mosley finished with 14 kills and six digs. Avery Reid added eight kills and 11 digs, while Anita Hancock had seven kills and five blocks. Callie Humphrey added 13 digs, and Lexi Moody picked up 18 assists, while McKenzie Mansell had 15 assists.
 
LETU took an early 4-3 lead in set one in a great atmosphere at Solheim Arena. They went up 5-4, but ETBU scored four straight points for an 8-5 lead. Mosley had two kills, and Humphrey collected two service aces. LETU stopped the run, scoring one point on a kill, 8-6, only to see ETBU score 13 of the following 16 points for a 21-9 lead. Hancock put the score at 23-13 on a kill, and then a kill by Moody and a Humphrey service ace ended set one, 25-15.
 
Battling to an 8-8 tie early in set two, ETBU scored three points in a row with a kill from Mosley and Raylynn Pitts, making it 11-8. LETU was within three times (12-10, 15-13, 17-15), but couldn't find the offense to catch the Tigers. ETBU had the two-point lead, 17-15, scoring three in a row on a LETU service error and kills from Hannah Perry and Reid for a 20-15 lead. LETU was within three, 21-18, but two attack errors and a Hancock kill made it 24-18. Mosley finished off set two with a kill and the win, 25-19.
 
LETU took a 9-6 lead in set three, but ETBU came back to tie it at 10. Tied at 13, Pitts and Mosley had back-to-back kills for a 15-13 lead. Grace Williamson made it 17-14 on a kill, and Mosley put ETBU up by five, 20-15, and another kill. A Mosley service ace put the score at 23-18, and then a Reid kill and Moody service ace ended the match, 25-19.
 
ETBU will host Mary Hardin-Baylor at 6:00 p.m. on Friday in ASC play in Ornelas Gym.
