GEORGETOWN, Texas – Overpowered by a Southwestern University offense, East Texas Baptist University didn't find the goal as they were downed, 2-0, on the road by the Pirates. ETBU is now 2-3-1 on the year.
ETBU had 11 shots, seven on goal, but Southwestern took 23 shots, nine on goal. They also had seven corner kicks.
Grace Shurley took four shots with two on goal, while
Michelle Medellin had three shots, all on goal.
Cadence Tischler recorded seven saves in goal, giving up two goals.
Southwestern took 10 shots in the first period, scoring in the 34th and 43rd minutes. They then had 13 shots in the second period. Shurley took ETBU's first shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the Tigers didn't have another shot on goal until the 43
rd minute.
Five shots on goal were scored in the second half. All five shots came within eight minutes from the 50th to the 58
th minute. Medellin had two shots, while
Makayla Baxter,
Giselle Laredo, and Shurley all had one on goal.
ETBU will start American Southwest Conference play at home on Thursday, September 26, at 5:00 p.m. vs. Howard Payne.
