MARSHALL, Texas – In a match filled with momentum and many ups and downs, East Texas Baptist University fell to Centenary College, 3-1. The Tigers are now 5-3-0 on the year.
The Tigers took 20 shots with seven on goal.
Regan Trojacek and
Junior Lopez led the team in shots with four.
Bryan Carrillo led the team in shots on goal with three. Carrillo and
Bruno Palmieri each took a total of three shots as
Dylan Garcia had two shots. Trojacek recorded the lone goal.
Ryan Lord collected four saves.
Centenary attacked early in the first half, with Lord making two saves at 12:05 and 16:39. ETBU responded but missed shots at 18:50 by Arreguin and 23:53 by Trojacek. The Tigers had three more shots in three minutes by Palmieri, Garcia, and Zuniga from 26:30 to 29:42, but all failed to find the back of the net. The Gents responded with their first goal at 31:32, making it 1-0.
The Tigers opened the second half scoring in the first five minutes with a goal by Trojacek on an assist from
Matthew Aguilar at 49:28 tying it at one. Trojacek and Lopez put pressure on the Gents with shots at 63:36 & 63:40 but couldn't find the net. Less than 10 minutes later, Centenary found the go-ahead goal at 71:34, going up, 2-1. The next minute brought three shots for ETBU from Lopez, Escalera, and Garcia between 71:58 and 72:59, but no goal. Palmieri then had a shot to the right of the net at 81:11. At 82:56, Centenary found their third goal of the match for a two-goal lead, 3-1. ETBU had two shots on goal in the final eight minutes, but Centenary stopped both.
ETBU will face off against Howard Payne University in Marshall, Texas, at 7:30 PM on September 26.
