MARSHALL, Texas—Cruising to their first 3-0 start since 2017, East Texas Baptist University held Centenary scoreless in the second half for a 47-8 win. ETBU is now 2-0 at Ornelas Field and has scored 45+ points in all three games.
ETBU finished with 493 yards of total offense, as 241 came in the air and 252 on the ground for a balanced attack.
Kaden Brown went 12-of-21 for 227 yards and three touchdowns.
Paul Woodard went over 100 yards rushing with 113 and three touchdowns.
Trayjen Llanas-Wilcox had five receptions for 114 yards and two touchdowns.
Elias Dejean also had a receiving touchdown and
Hymond Drinkard rushed for a touchdown.
The defense held Centenary to 209 yards of offense, forcing two fumbles and recovering one with one interception.
Keewan Grismore led the team with 10 tackles, while
Bron Melvin had seven.
Jahkamian Carr and
Coby Walker posted two tackles for loss as Walker earned a sack.
Tyler Wilkins had an interception.
ETBU collected 28 points in the first half, with 14 in each quarter. Woodard had two touchdown runs in the first quarter of seven yards (13:54) and 19 yards (3:29) for a 14-2 lead. Llanas-Wilcox caught his first touchdown at 9:38 in the second quarter, making it 21-2, and Drinkard went from two yards out for a 28-2 advantage. Centenary did score at 3:28 for their lone touchdown of the game.
Woodard was the only score in the third quarter on a two-yard run at 14:40 for the 34-8 lead. In the fourth quarter, Llanas-Wilcox received his second touchdown pass from Brown from eight yards for a 41-8 lead. Dejean finished the scoring with 8:31 to go on a 10-yard pass from Brown.
ETBU will travel to Mary Hardin-Baylor next Saturday to open ASC play.
