MARSHALL, Texas – Opening up the 2024 season going 2-0, East Texas Baptist University swept the American Southwest Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week awards.
Ryan Lord (Fr.; Fate, Texas) and
Junior Lopez (Fr.; Lufkin, Texas) earned their first ASC Defensive and Offensive awards for their play against the University of Dallas and the University of the Ozarks.
In his first collegiate matches, Lord made five saves and had a 1.00 goals against average. Lopez scored two goals for four points with three shots on goal.
ETBU takes on Millsaps College in Jackson, Miss., on Wednesday and Belhaven University (Miss.) on Saturday.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Junior Lopez, F, Fr., East Texas Baptist

Junior Lopez (Lufkin, Texas) tied the game at one versus Dallas in the 56th minute, taking three shots with one goal. In the win over Ozarks, he had the game-tying goal in the 67th minute and took three shots with two on goal in the game.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Ryan Lord, GK, Fr., East Texas Baptist
East Texas Baptist freshman goalkeeper
Ryan Lord (Fate, Texas) shut out Dallas and Ozarks in the second half of the season's first two matches. Only two early scores were given up across both games. Lord posted 84 shutout minutes against Dallas and 79 minutes versus Ozarks with five saves.
