MARSHALL, Texas—After a victorious week in Ornelas Gym, East Texas Baptist University maintains the No. 2 ranking in the nation in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Poll with 2,070 votes and received 16 first-place votes. It is the fifth straight week to be No. 2 in the country and the 22nd week to be ranked in a row. The 16 first-place votes are the most in program history. Earlier this week, ETBU received the No. 1 ranking in the NCAA Division III's first NPI ranking, too.
ETBU swept both matches this past week beating both Centenary College and Mary Hardin-Baylor, 3-0, for the second time this season. The wins put ETBU at 22-0 and 4-0 in the ASC after the win over UMHB.
This continues to be the highest ranking in program history in the AVCA. ETBU has defeated three top 15 teams in No. 4 Wisconsin-Eau Claire, No. 9 Trinity University, and No. 14 Berry College.
ETBU will host St Thomas Houston on Thursday, Hardin-Simmons on Friday, and Howard Payne on Saturday at Ornelas Gymnasium.
