#TIGERSWIN | VB | ETBU Finishes a Perfect Season in ASC Sweeping HPU

MARSHALL, Texas — It was a momentous Senior Day as No. 1 /2 East Texas Baptist University swept Howard Payne University, finishing American Southwest Conference play undefeated for the second year in a row, 25-9, 25-16, 25-18. ETBU is now 25-0 and 6-0 in the ASC.
 
Four-year starter Graycee Mosley led with 16 kills and 10 digs. Anita Hancock contributed six total blocks and five kills. Lexi Moody facilitated the offense, recording 15 assists and three block assists. Sydney Temple also played a key role in setting up plays, matching Moody with 15 assists and adding three service aces. Callie Humphrey added 12 digs.
 
ETBU opened the match with a strong start, taking an early lead through a service ace by Taylor Poore and a kill by Moody, assisted by Humphrey. Midway through the set, Temple's entry significantly contributed to their momentum, serving two consecutive aces, which helped extend their lead. Despite some resistance from Howard Payne, the Tigers maintained control with notable contributions from Mosley and Katherine Server. The set concluded with a 25-9 victory.
 
ETBU took control of the second set early with a series of consecutive points, highlighted by Mosley's kill after a block error by HPU. Their momentum continued with a strong defensive presence, including blocks by Moody and Server, contributing to an early 4-0 lead. Howard Payne tied the game at 7-7, but the Tigers quickly regained the lead with decisive kills by Hancock and Lara Hornsby, supported by Temple's assists. A significant run by ETBU extended their advantage to 16-7, aided by Sadie Kasowski's contributions in kills and setting. Despite a brief surge by Howard Payne, ETBU maintained composure. Mosley's kills and a service ace by Temple solidified the set's outcome. The set concluded with a 25-16 victory.
 
The Tigers surged early in the third set, opening with a four-point streak that included a kill by Mosley and a service ace by Poore. Howard Payne briefly closed the gap, tying the score at 5-5. Still, ETBU responded with a series of decisive plays, including a key block by Hancock and a sequence of kills by Mosley, assisted by Moody, to regain the lead. In the latter part of the set, ETBU maintained momentum with Mosley's consistent offensive contributions and a service ace, stretching their advantage. Set three's final score was 25-18.
 
The Tigers will be back in Ornelas on Friday for the ETBU Tournament. They will face Austin College at 6:00 p.m. and UC Santa Cruz on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
