MARSHALL, Texas – A late header proved to be the difference as East Texas Baptist University fell to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, 1-0, in a defensive battle Saturday evening at Cornish Field. UMHB scored in the 84
th minute handing ETBU the late match loss as they drop to 4-3-3 and 0-2-0 in the American Southwest Conference.
The ASC matchup remained scoreless until the closing minutes when UMHB capitalized on a set piece to net the game-winner. UMHB took 10 shots with eight on goal as ETBU's
Cadence Tischler had seven saves. ETBU took just two shots as
Madeline Rumachik had the only shot on goal.
Both teams played evenly through the first half, with neither side breaking through. ETBU recorded just two shots in the match, with one on goal. Gisele Laredo had the other shot for the Tigers.
The Tigers continue ASC play next Saturday, traveling to Brownwood, Texas to face Howard Payne at 7:30 p.m.
