ABILENE, Texas – Making history in West Texas, East Texas Baptist University won the American Southwest Conference women's cross country championship for the first-time in program history. Phoebe Dunman was the ASC Individual Champion as six runners earned All-ASC awards and
Natalie Bach-Prather was named the ASC Coach of the Year.
ETBU held onto the championship with 33 points over Mary Hardin-Baylor's 44 and Hardin-Simmons University's 49 points. ETBU had three runners in the top 10 to give them the championship in Dunham (1
st), Requena (3
rd), and Willis (4
th)
Dunham ran a 23:09.83 for the championship in the 6K coming in almost 40 seconds faster than the second place runner. Requena ran a 24:33.64 for third place and Willis came in fourth with a 24:39.72 to earn All-ASC First Team.
Making the All-ASC second team were
Mary Kate Mark in 12
th place with a time of 27:05.38,
Megan Smith in 13
th at 27:17.80, and
Ruquayya Soudine in 14
th at 27:30.44.
Mallory Frederick was 16
th (27:59.16) while
Izabella Ball was 17
th (28:35.11),
Evangeline Wilson was 18
th (28:53.13), and Sophie Gaddy came in 19
th (29:13.92.
ETBU will next run at the NCAA Division III West Regional in California on Nov. 15.
