MARSHALL, Texas — Eight East Texas Baptist University men's soccer players earned American Southwest Conference honors following the 2025 season, highlighted by
Lars Clark being named the ASC Offensive Freshman of the Year. Three student-athletes were on the All-ASC First-Team, with five on the Second-Team, and it is the second year in a row that ETBU has produced the ASC Offensive Freshman of the Year.
Clark (Fr., Lufkin, Texas) became ETBU's second player in program history to win the ASC Offensive Freshman of the Year Award, following
Junior Lopez in 2024. He tied for the team lead in goals with seven, led the team in points with 16, and added two assists. He totaled 28 shots — 19 on goal — and recorded two multi-goal performances, scoring twice against McMurry on Sept. 11 and Schreiner on Sept. 13. He was named ASC Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 16.
Joining Clark on the All-ASC First Team were forward
Dylan Garcia (Jr., Clovis, Calif.) and defender
Jacob Wenzel (Jr., Frisco, Texas). Garcia earned his second consecutive first-team honor after tallying four goals on the season, including two against Hendrix on Oct. 7. He registered 19 total shots, with 12 on goal, posting a .632 shot-on-goal percentage, and was named ASC Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 14. Wenzel anchored the Tigers' back line, contributing to three shutouts while also being named to the All-Tournament Team.
Five Tigers earned All-ASC Second Team recognition: goalkeeper
Ryan Lord (So., Fate, Texas), forward
Junior Lopez (So., Lufkin, Texas), forward Josh Daley (So., Allen, Texas), defender
Brenden Gajewski (Sr., Dripping Springs, Texas), and midfielder
Bryan Escalera (So., San Antonio, Texas).
Lord, the 2024 ASC Defensive Player of the Year, followed up with another strong season, recording 57 saves and three shutouts. Lopez earned his second straight All-ASC honor after posting seven goals and 16 points, including a two-goal game against Austin College on Sept. 18. He was also a member of the ASC All-Tournament team. Daley collected his first career All-ASC award with four goals and seven assists for 15 points, highlighted by a three-assist performance in the same Sept. 18 contest. Gajewski, a senior defender, scored three goals while taking 27 shots (15 on goal), and Escalera contributed in 10 matches, logging 614 minutes.
ETBU finished the season 9-9-1, earning the No. 3 seed in the ASC Tournament — the program's best win total since 2018.
